Surprise, AZ (April 4, 2022) Egg hunters are invited to join the search for candy and toy-filled plastic eggs as part of the City’s Eggstravaganza event on April 16 at the Surprise Recreation Campus-Kansas City Practice fields, located at 15850 N. Bullard Ave. The event is free but canned foods are being collected at the gate for Valley View Community Food Bank.

Surprise, AZ (March 29, 2022) It’s your final opportunity to enjoy Sunday in the Park and with so many fun events going on, the City wants to make sure residents are prepared for road closures and parking.

Bullard Ave. will be closed for Spring Training until 5:30p.m. Please park in the dirt lot on Paradise Ln. east of Bullard Ave. if you arrive prior to 5:30p.m. This map shows the lot, labeled as “Spring Training Parking.”

Sunday in the Park is Sunday, April 3 at Mark Coronado Park, 15350 N. Bullard Ave. Notes from Neptune will be the live entertainment and food trucks will be on site to keep you well fed. The event is from 4 – 8 p.m. following the Spring Training game.

Bring your lawn chairs or a blanket, as you will want to sit and enjoy the sounds.  If your furry companion will be joining you, they must be on a leash.

City opens new permanent yellow cooking oil disposal station

Surprise, AZ (March 22, 2022) Surprise has opened a second permanent disposal station for yellow cooking oil in the parking lot of Fire Station 303, located at 15440 N Cotton Ln. This is in addition to the disposal station located in the parking lot of Fire Station 305 at 15517 N Parkview Pl.

Both disposal stations are open year-round, 24 hours a day, seven days a week for used kitchen oil disposal ONLY. Motor oils are not accepted at this facility.

Cooking oils disposed at the station will be processed and reused to make other products such as biofuel, soaps and candles.

Surprise, AZ (March 18, 2022) The City of Surprise is excited to offer Summer Break Camp for youth entering 1st through 8th grade! This is a fun-filled camp that includes afternoon snack, daily activities, arts and crafts, games, sports and field trips. Field trips may include but are not limited to bowling, laser tag, water park, movies, pools, Jakes Unlimited and much more!

Summer Camp 2022 will be held May 23 through August 3; Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. Camp will be held at Countryside Recreation Center located at 15038 N. Parkview Pl. for children entering grades 1st through 4th and Sierra Montana Recreation Center located at 14861 N. Spring Ln. for participants entering grades 5th through 8th

Spring Training in Surprise will begin on Friday, March 18 with Surprise’s home teams, the Texas Rangers and the Kansas City Royals, facing off at Surprise Stadium at 1:05 p.m. Surprise has made some updates to the fan experience and below is your guide to the 2022 Spring Training Season.

KIDZ Jamboree is Friday, April 8 from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Surprise Resource Center – 12425 W. Bell Rd.

Surprise, AZ (March 10, 2022) On Friday, March 11, the Rangers and Royals minor league teams will play each other at 12 p.m. in Surprise Stadium. The game will be free and open to fans. Tickets are not required. Entry to this game will only be through the third base gate, beginning at 11 a.m.

Major League Baseball announces revised 2022 Spring Training schedule

Surprise, AZ (March 14, 2022) On March 21, the City of Surprise will start accepting applications for an Arts & Cultural Advisory Commission-led grant program that supports qualified community-based organizations pursuing arts and cultural events or activities benefiting Surprise residents.

Now in its second year, the grant program has $30,000 in funding available to distribute.

City’s summer job program for teens now accepting applications

Surprise, AZ (March 15, 2022) The City of Surprise is offering a summer job program for Surprise teens between the ages of 15 – 19 that are income-eligible.

Surprise, AZ (March 16, 2022) The Surprise Pops Band will perform their spring concert on Sunday, March 27 at Shadow Ridge High School, 10909 N Perryville Rd.

The music will include compilations from Mamma Mia, Lion King, Mary Poppins, Misty and Over the Rainbow. 

Doors open at 2:15 p.m.; the show begins at 3 p.m.
