Surprise, AZ (August 22, 2022) The Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) in partnership with the cities of Surprise and Peoria will be upgrading the fiber optic communications network along an eight-mile stretch of Bell Road, from Litchfield Road to Loop 101. Work is anticipated to begin on August 29, 2022 and last through March 2023.

Surprise, AZ (August 18, 2022) Major League Baseball has announced the Arizona Fall League 2022 schedule.

The Surprise Saguaros, one of six teams who compete in the Arizona Fall League, will begin their season on Tuesday, October 4 at Surprise Stadium. The roster for the Surprise Saguaros will include the top prospects from the Kansas City Royals, Texas Rangers, Houston Astros, Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Saguaros will compete against the Glendale Desert Dogs, Scottsdale Scorpions, Mesa Solar Sox, Peoria Javelinas and Salt River Rafters, each team assembling the top talent from each of the 30 Major League Baseball affiliates.

Surprise, AZ (July 18, 2022) – The City of Surprise and Surprise-based fiber internet provider Wyyerd have been awarded $1.65 million by Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) to advance broadband capacity in two areas of the community – Surprise City Center and Surprise Heritage District.

The start date for the maintenance of the palm trees within the city’s Bell Road medians has been delayed. The work will now occur August 8-19 during the overnight hours. Temporary inside lane restrictions are expected between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. These will be moving restrictions as crews work from Grand Avenue to the western city limits.

Both City of Surprise public pools, Hollyhock Pool and Surprise Aquatic Center, are closed effective today and until further notice due to temporary staffing shortages as a result of possible COVID-19 exposures.

Surprise, AZ (August 2, 2022) – Improvements are coming to Cotton Lane between Cactus Road and Peoria Avenue, which will result in traffic restrictions beginning August 15.

Palm trees within the city’s Bell Road medians will be receiving landscape maintenance (trimming and pruning) August 1-19 during the overnight hours. Temporary inside lane restrictions are expected between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. These will be moving restrictions as crews work from Grand Avenue to the western city limits.
