Surprise, A‌Z (February 6, 2020) The city is currently accepting applications from income-qualified Surprise property owners who need assistance financing minor home repairs.

This program will grant a maximum of $3,500 for eligible repairs in owner-occupied homes. If the proposed repairs exceed $3,500, applicants will have the opportunity to apply for the city’s Deferred Loan Program to cover the needed repairs.

Eligible repairs covered under the program include plumbing, water heater replacements, electrical repairs, HVAC repairs, broken windows, roof repairs, smoke detector replacement and more.

Funding for this program is limited. Projects are selected on a first come, first served basis, with special consideration given to projects that address health and safety issues such as plumbing leaks, electrical problems, HVAC problems, broken windows, etc.

The Surprise City Academy begins on February 24 and meets weekly through April 6. Most classes will meet in the auditorium of the Surprise Public Safety Building, 14250 W. Statler Plaza, from 6-8:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
