Surprise crews have begun placing about 300 new signs in the community, including larger ones to notify drivers of upcoming intersections. The signs needed replacing, and the new ones are easier to read and have better “reflectivity,” City Engineer Bob Maki said.
The total cost of the project is $25,000, but about $8,400 will be paid for using federal “elderly mobility sign” funds issued through the Maricopa Association of Governments
