Surprise Pride Day a Success
For Immediate Release
SURPRISE, AZ (February 5, 2008) As the Valley was caught up in a football frenzy last weekend, residents of Surprise were swelling with pride in their community as 540 volunteer residents and city employees partnered for the 6th Annual Surprise Pride Day.The volunteers and residents of the Original Town Site spent the morning of Saturday, February 2, beautifying 26 homes along Hollyhock, Wusich, Nash and W. Cottonwood Streets.“We had people painting homes, planting trees and bushes, spreading gravel and removing refuse,” says Surprise Neighborhood Services Supervisor Christina Ramirez. “The volunteers enjoyed it and the residents were more than pleased with the results.” Ramirez says the city holds a Pride Day event every year during the month of February and also partners for a smaller Pride Day event with the Kiwanis Club in April. This year, that date will be April 5.
