Surprise Streets Crew Clean Up with Awards
SURPRISE, AZ (March 31, 2008) Two Streets Division employees from the Surprise Public Works Department rounded up some awards at the Tom Sheetz Memorial Roads & Streets Maintenance Rodeo in Mesa.Surprise street crews competed against street crews from cities across Arizona in six different industry-related events.
Surprise’s Darrin Higginson took first place in the Wheel Loader and Mark Laborin took third place in the Street Sweeper competition.
Other Surprise Street’s employees competing this year were: Nate Frago, Jesse Berumen, Armando Avalos, Andre Waugh, Max Garcia, Arturo Mendivil, Manuel Valle, Richard Nation, John Belyew, Shawn Ingram, Ruben Moreno and Jack Porter.
The Rodeo was held in Mesa on March 27.
