Mihelich named Surprise Community Development Director
Mr. Mihelich comes from Algonquin, Illinois a city of 30,000 population.The City of Poquoson, Virginia has a population of approx. 12,000.
His annual salary in Surprise will be $120,000.
SURPRISE, AZ ( May 28, 2008 ) Jeffery J. Mihelich of Algonquin, Illinois has been named Community Development Director of the city of Surprise. He will begin his new duties in early July. Mihelich brings to Surprise 15 years of experience in community planning and development plus an extensive background in municipal government management.He currently serves as the assistant Village Manager of Algonquin, Illinois, a position he has held since 2002. He oversees economic development, downtown revitalization, land use planning and environmental protection. He acts as staff liaison with the Algonquin Planning and Zoning Commission, Economic Development Commission and other citizen volunteer commissions.From 1996 until his promotion to Assistant Manager in 2002, he served as Algonquin’s Community Development Director and oversaw land use, transportation and parks planning, zoning, code enforcement, economic development and building inspections/permitting.Mihelich has also served as Director of Planning and Community Development for the City of Poquoson, Virginia and as Senior Planner with James City County in Virginia. He has a BS in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin and a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from Portland State University in Oregon.His annual salary will be $120,000.
