a creditable community website
Council John Williams
Foreclosures and vacant homes.
June 16, 2008
One of the larger issues in our community has been the rising number of foreclosures and vacant homes. While the AdHoc Committee continues to work diligently on both short and long term solutions, this past Thursday, behind the leadership of Mayor Truitt and my fellow Councilmembers, we sanctioned a city wide Surprise Community Pride Day.
The intention of this event is to bring the entire community together to attack the issue and build our hometown pride. If we truly want to develop a greater sense of community, then we all need to take pride in every corner, every street, and every home in our city.
The same pride many of us take in our own homes, the care we put into our properties, can rub off on others . Surprise Community Pride Day will be an opportunity to pick some weeds and trash, and translate the same pride we take in our own private homes and rub that off on the entire city. We will have a stronger community because of it.
So at 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 21st, at Surprise Stadium, join me, city staff, elected officials, PD, Fire, Denny’s, Chick-fil-a, and other businesses and residents of Surprise as we show our hometown pride. If you have further questions call or email.
Thanks again, and I look forward to getting dirty and sweaty with all of you.
Lets give Councilman John Williams credit for staying on top of the issues.
