Comments not wanted

Surpriseaznews.com is a City of Surprise Blog that reports news that fits the City that other news organizations generally will not report.

It appears that Lyn Truitt and a couple of Council Members might be having their difference’s.

The City of Surprises Council Meeting held on the 10Th of July was something to behold, watch the replay on channel 11 or the internet and make your own decision whether the votes were decided in the council chambers.

Lyn Truitt and his council have shown how a council meeting should not be held, they have a complete disregard for the comments made by the public.

After appearing before the city council last night in what I believed to be important issues that were not very well addressed by staff, I was told that I needed a PR person, I was not trying to look good, only directing my concerns to Lyn Truitt and his council.

The general disdain for citizens who take the trouble to attend city council sessions and sought to be heard - is well known so for now I will write my concerns on this web site only and henceforth will not appear before Lyn Truitt’s Council nor post further comments in newszap.com With over 7,000 hit’s a month on this web site, I don’t need newszap to get my message out. God bless America.

July 11, 2008 Council unanimously acknowledges AG Report

 SURPRISE, AZ( July 11, 2008 )

The Surprise City Council has unanimously acknowledged the Arizona Attorney General’s Office report that found Open Meetings Law infractions had occurred prior to 2008. The vote took place Thursday, July 10 at the council’s regular meeting. The Attorney General’s office had originally recommended that the council “accept” the report. The modification from “accept” to “acknowledge” is recognition by the Attorney General’s Office that council membership has changed dramatically since the infractions occurred, according to city staff. The Attorney General also agreed that the city did not need to pay for a compliance officer to monitor its meetings for one year, its original recommendation. Instead, the council can utilize an attorney pro bono, or at no cost, to assure council continues to operate within the provision of the Open Meetings Law.City Attorney Michael Bailey told the council the Attorney General will permit the officer to audit meetings off site via the city’s internet streaming of council sessions.Bailey also reported to council that the Attorney General’s Office acknowledges the extensive Open Meeting Law training the council has received since taking office. At the Attorney General’s recommendation, the council will receive additional training, especially on the potential pitfalls of unintentionally falling afoul of the Open Meetings Law when using the telephone or e-mails. July 10
