a creditable community website
No concern
Surpriseaznews.com is a City of Surprise Blog that reports news that fits the City that other news organizations generally will not report.
Below was taken from the official web site July 11, 2008 for the City of Surprise.
Why don’t they have the current budget listed? This is not the 2008 budget but the 2007-2008 budget.
Hit the budget link and see the previous council members.
I emailed Council John Williams told him the city doesn’t know if the park they own in Marley Park is 25 or 35 acres, no response.
One of the issues that I brought up last night was, why do we sometime have more agenda items for a meeting then are listed in the minutes for the same meeting, where is the credibility? According to the AG’s report I believe they are in violation of the open meeting law when it comes to reporting our executive sessions.
What needs to be said is, the issues that I bring before the Council is not readily understood by the general public and it is intimidating standing before them.
The general disdain for citizens who take the trouble to attend city council sessions and sought to be heard - is well known so for now I will write my concerns on this web site only and henceforth will not appear before Lyn Truitt’s Council nor post further comments in newszap.com
Making the statement that you cannot go on the city’s website and find out what we paid former Judge Cragan in severance pay and saying that meetings with packets were missing I thought was clear, that council members would know what I was referring to.
Another concern of mine was that this council approved changing residential zoning to what amounts to an industrial park (33 acres) which C-3 is without that information on the agenda item. Good planning would have been to change the zoning to C-2 which is commercial, then if needed they could apply for a C-3 conditional use permit.
Perception, the value of this property increased immensely, who all benefited?
I commended the AdHoc Foreclosure Committee on their report but asked why wasn’t civil penalties not considered as the City of Murrieta had done.
Another question for the council was that some council members in previous meetings wanted to know about the benefits we receive from the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.
They gave GPEC almost $41,000 tonight but nothing were in any of the minutes that showed their questions were answered. This might be another violation of the open meeting law, because the AG’s report said minutes should reflect what is said.
