Additional details about the city’s Sept. 20 and 27 Solar Surprise Education Events are provided in the attached release, for your coverage consideration.

SURPRISE, AZ (Sept. 11, 2008) Are you interested in saving money and the environment by going solar? Then make plans to attend one of two free Solar Education Expos this month in Surprise.

In partnership with SolarCity, a California-based leaser of solar equipment, the city will host solar education events on Sept. 20th at the Rio Salado Community College Lifelong Learning Center, 12535 Smokey Drive, and the Sept. 27th event will be at the Surprise Northwest Regional Library, 16089 N. Bullard Avenue.

“SolarCity has conducted similar events in communities across the West, so we are very pleased to have them share their industry knowledge with our residents,” says Surprise Economic Development Director John Hagen. “And city staff will be on hand to answer any questions about the solar permitting process for businesses and homeowners.”

In addition to explaining solar technology to those in attendance, SolarCity representatives will discuss federal tax credit incentives and rebates offered through partner APS for those making the switch to solar products.

Both free events are planned for 10 a.m.  For more information call 623.222.3300 or visit the city Web calendar at surpriseaz.com. You may also register for the events in advance at www.solarcity.com/events, although registration is not required.
