Surprise residents invited to discuss the city’s future and Loop 303


SURPRISE, AZ (Nov. 19, 2008) Surprise planners are inviting all residents to attend two upcoming General Plan meetings to discuss proposed changes to the city’s future Village concept and consider ideas for the beautification of the Loop 303.Outreach Meeting #1 - Proposed Changes to the Village Boundaries

Planners will discuss the proposed changes to the village boundaries. The planning effort for the villages began in the summer of 2006. Residents provided input on draft village boundaries at outreach meetings and through the Surprise General Plan Web site. City staff evaluated the village boundaries based on results from the outreach meetings and online comments, major transportation corridors, existing development projects, character of the area and the level of service.  The upcoming meeting will showcase the proposed village boundaries.

Special landscaping, enhancements that highlight the history of Surprise, and an emphasis on sustainable design is being considered for the section of Loop 303 that is within the city limits. City planners will be available to discuss options that are proposed for the corridor. Surprise residents are encouraged to attend the open house and provide their valuable comments.
