Hi! Lyn
Thought you should know. There might have been an over sight on your part, by not asking if there were any public comments on Item #23 before taking a vote. If so, can this be ratified in another meeting?
Bob:
I checked with the City Attorney and he advises me the item was properly noticed and a call to the public is not required. Someone who wished to discuss this item could do so, however, at the beginning of the meeting. The same applies to Commission appointments (i.e. there is no call to the public). Randy

It appears that governing is a learning process in the purest form. Hope that you can understand what we received from Randy better then I can, isn’t this explanation for the call to the public rather then for the Public Hearing Items. You and the previous Mayor of Surprise, before taking action, on the Public Hearing Items have always said, is they’re anyone in the public that wants to speak on this item. According to what the City Attorney has said this is not necessary. Lots of Luck, Bob

Hi Bob,
You are right, we do not speak on agenda items at the public hearing. There was no need to have a call to the public on the vice-mayor position. It was added after the original agenda went out so it was the last item before the council requested agenda and workshop items.
I hope this clarifies,Lyn
