Surprise Youth Volleyball Registration starts April 13


SURPRISE, AZ (April 9, 2009) The Surprise Community and Recreation Services department is offering a Summer Youth Girls Volleyball League which will begin in late May. Girls, ages 7-15, will learn the basic fundamentals and skills associated with the game of volleyball in an atmosphere where participation and fun are top priority.

 

Also available this summer is a Girls Volleyball Camp and a NEW Boys Volleyball Camp! Coaches and players from Valley Vista High School will teach participants the basic fundamentals of the game of volleyball in a safe and fun environment. Instructors will teach skills such as serving, passing, setting, hitting and blocking. The Girls Volleyball Camp will be held June 8 – 10 for ages 7-15 and the Boys Volleyball Camp will be held June 11-13 for ages 10-18. Both Camps will be held at the Villanueva Recreation Center, located at 15660 N. Hollyhock St.

 

Resident Registration for all three volleyball programs will begin April 13 and be available through April 25. Late and Non-resident Registration will be held April 27 – May 1. Special Saturday Registration will be available only to Surprise residents on Saturday, April 25 from 8a.m. – 11a.m. at the Community and Recreation Services Office. Registration is also available on-line at www.surpriseaz.com/recreation.

 

The City of Surprise is looking for youth volleyball coaches. If you are interested, please fill out a volunteer application and get fingerprinted at the Community and Recreation Services Office, located at 15960 N.
