Question: if Waste Management close’s the recycling plant in Phoenix, because their other plant is in Tucson, where will cities other then Surprise, Litchfield Park, Goodyear and Tolleson go with their recycle materials?

With 35 employee’s being permanently employed as they say, this is a big operation, that needs plenty of fuel.

How many more truck trips do you estimate will be made, a year in addition to our own?

Will the additional truck traffic add to our traffic problems and the maintenance of the city streets?

What was it?

From the minutes of the meeting, you could not come to any conclusions as Ms. Chan did.

Surprise gave the green light this week for staff to market the old City Hall as an incubator to grow a biotech industry in the community.

Strategically, it’s a good thing for us to do due to the state of the economy,” said John Hagen “It’s a great opportunity to grow a job base in our community.”

money for schools

About $195 million in stimulus money was released Wednesday for Arizona K-12 schools where at least 40 percent of students qualify for free and reduced lunches. Here are those getting the largest amounts:• Tucson Unified: $20.9 million.• Mesa Unified: $20.2 million.

• Phoenix Union High School: $11.6 million.

• Phoenix Elementary: $7.4 million.

• Washington Elementary: $6.8 million.

• Sunnyside Unified: $6.2 million.

• Cartwright Elementary: $6.0 million.

• Paradise Valley Unified: $5.3 million.

• Roosevelt Elementary: $5.2 million.

• Alhambra Elementary: $4.9 million

If the State of Arizona is receiving this money, why the lay offs.

Recognition

Being a Coast Guard veteran of WW11 I took exception that the City of Surprise did not recognize them, in the military week in the Surprise Stadium. They are an active force in our protection for freedom.

The Branch Military Recognition Days are as follows:
Sunday, March 29 American Legion representing Veteran Service Organizations

Monday, March 30 US Navy

Tuesday, March 31 US Air Force

Wednesday, April 1 US Marine Corps

Thursday, April 2 US Army

Waste of money

SURPRISE, AZ (March 20, 2009) The City of Surprise was awarded $2.1 million from the federal government’s National Stabilization Program and will use the money to purchase at least 12 foreclosed properties in the city.

“This is welcome news,” says Community Development Director Jeff Mihelich. “We will be able to purchase the homes, repair or demolish them, and rebuild quality homes for deserving homeowners.

This money in my estimation, could have been better spent on more properties and doing more for the community, then the 12 @ $175,000 each. Which will probably be in the original square mile or in the boon-docks.
