Surprise to begin auctioning surplus property online
Surprise, AZ (Sept. 17, 2008) Looking for a good deal on a used desk, computer, or even a vehicle? Then make plans to register for the City of Surprise online surplus property auctions.
Teaming up with Public Surplus, the City of Surprise surplus auctions will be available online, beginning Monday, September 29, at: http://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/surprise,az/browse/home .
While bidding online requires access to a computer with an internet connection, offering surplus auctions 24 hours a day for several days will allow a greater number of people in the community to participate in surplus auctions than was previously possible with live auctions that would take place on a specific date and time. The objective for the city’s surplus auctions is to provide everyone in the community equal and fair access to bid while gaining the most possible revenue for the city.
The city commonly sells vehicles, heavy equipment, tools, office and computer equipment, electronics, and various confiscated property through surplus auctions.
Those in the community that would like to participate in surplus auctions can register with Public Surplus at: https://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/register/user .
Interest lists can be created that will alert community members through email when the city releases surplus auctions.
Questions and inquiries about the city’s online auctions should be directed to Rose Testa-Tidwell 623.222.3723.

- Starting at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, nighttime closures of all lanes of westbound Bell, from Reems to Sunrise, will be in effect. These nighttime closures (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) will run through Sunday, Sept. 28. Note: Bell Road reopens to daytime traffic. This will allow crews to mill, grade and prepare to pave the area.
- Westbound Bell, right lanes closures remain in effect from Parkview to the 303.
- Eastbound Bell will be closed at night (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.) this week from Bullard to Litchfield, with the lanes reopening during the daytime. Phases 2 and 3 of the Bell Road Construction Project include reconstruction of the westbound lanes of Bell, Parkview to just east of the Loop 303, using rubberized asphalt. The eastbound lanes of Bell, Parkview to Grand, are being reconstructed, using standard asphalt concrete. Additional fiber is being installed underground to later expand the intelligent traffic management system on Bell Road. Additional improvements include:
- Dual left-turn lanes added off Bell onto Reems from both directions, and two right-turn lanes from Bell onto Reems are planned, one in each direction.
- Drainage improvements at Bell intersections with Litchfield and Reems.
