Contracts
The City of Surprise will be signing a contract with a new City Manager, some one in the legal department should be held responsible for how the contract is written.
Interim City Manager Ferreira contract is flawed as noted below, is the contract for 6 months or for 4 months?
February 28, 2008, and shall continue for six (6) months and extended thereafter on amonth to month basis by mutual consent of the City and Ferreira until such time as theCity or Ferreira terminates the agreement.(i) All salary payable to the Ferreira under this
Agreement shall immediately cease, except that the City agrees to pay a severance
payment equal to the salary and benefits for the remaining months of the initial four (4)
month term, earned but unpaid salary, accrued sick time and vacation time and benefits,
shall be paid to Ferreira.
In the below is it sixty or 30 days?
(i) All salary payable to Ferreira shall cease sixty (30) days
following Ferreira’s notice to the Mayor and Council.
Contracts for appointive officers
I keep hearing that we hire our city manager under a one year contract, unless I can’t see it, the contract for the manager and lawyer is indefinite, the city clerk works on a day to day basis.
