24 hour hotline now open for Bell Road Reconstruction
SURPRISE, AZ (July 28, 2008) With Phases 2 and 3 of the Bell Road Reconstruction Project scheduled to begin on August 11, a 24 hour project hotline has been established. Anyone can call 602-264-6416 with any questions they may have related to this project. The phone number will be staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Phases 2 and 3 will have crews reconstructing the westbound lanes of Bell from Parkview to just east of the Loop 303, and on the eastbound lanes of Bell from Parkview to Grand. This work will extend the pavement’s life by at least another 20 years.
Other components of Phases 2 and 3 include the addition of dual left turn lanes from Bell onto Reems and drainage improvements there.
Motorists will also see an updated traffic signal installation at Bell and Reems that will replace the existing one, and a new signal is planned at Bell and Sarival.
Drainage improvements are also planned at Bell and Litchfield roads that will include removing the “dips” on Bell. Another improvement includes the underground conduit installation for the Intelligent Traffic System, or ITS, on Bell from Parkview to the Loop 303. This is in preparation for next year’s expansion of the Bell Road ITS system of fiber optic cable, TV cameras and changeable message signs.
Utility work will be accomplished at the same time as the road work. Surprise will provide a large multi-conduit duct bank under the pavement so that APS can later install lines to meet future power needs at the City Center, the future home to the new City Hall. Arizona American Water will add a new water line to meet the needs of nearby businesses.
Access to all of our many Bell Road retailers will remain during the construction.
