City Manager Mike Frazier’s Fiscal Year (FY) 2020 City Manager Recommended Budget, presented at City Council’s April 16 Work Session, continues to focus on Council’s commitment to maintain quality public services and infrastructure, while also addressing the needs of a growing community. The FY2020 Recommended Expenditure Budget is $414 million.  



Surprise, AZ (April 23, 2019) – Beginning Monday, April 29, Southbound Litchfield Road will be closed from Cactus Road to Desert Cove Road nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to install a new water line. This nighttime restriction will be in place through Wednesday, May 8.

Surprise 11 is now Surprise TV; watch city news on a new channel

– The official TV station for the City of Surprise is switching channels and names. Surprise 11 is now Surprise TV! To catch all the latest city news, information or to watch a City Council meeting– Surprise TV is your connection to the City of Surprise.

Technology upgrades at Cox Communications and CenturyLink have or will move the city’s cable channel position from channel 11. Surprise TV is already located on 8513 in high definition for CenturyLink customers. Cox continues their transition from an analog to digital tier, and the new location for Surprise TV has not yet been identified. Finalized details will be made available at www.surpriseaz.gov. Abrazo Surprise Hospital

Abrazo Community Health will begin construction of a “microhospital” in Surprise that will provide 24-hour emergency room services, as well as minor surgical and medical procedures.

The 32,500-square-foot building will be near Loop 303 and Bell Road.

The facility will feature a 13-bed emergency department, an operating room, eight inpatient rooms, laboratory, diagnostic imaging and a pharmacy. 

The hospital marks the first in Surprise, a city of more than 130,000 people. The two nearest hospitals are Banner Boswell in Sun City and Banner Del Webb in Sun City West.
