Surprise, AZ (October 2, 2020) The City of Surprise Parks & Recreation Department is now accepting Veterans Day tribute submissions in two different formats. While we are not able to put on a parade this year due to COVID-19, we will be using signs and videos to create a virtual alternative to families lined along a parade route, or parade participants displaying signs of gratitude.

The video tribute will be a compilation of community messages to veterans that will be featured on Veterans Day on the Surprise TV cable channel, our Parks & Recreation social media pages (Facebook and Instagram), and the City of Surprise website at surpriseaz.gov.

Here’s how to participate:

·         Record a video tribute no longer than 15 seconds thanking our veterans

·         Once it’s complete, upload your video here: surpriseaz.gov/veteranvideo

Please let our veterans know how important they are to Surprise by submitting your video or sign, or both!

For more information, please contact Steve Castillo at 623.222.2267 or steve.castillo@surpriseaz.gov.

·         Entries must be received by Thursday, October 29 at 5 p.m.

Is Surprise Arizona a good place to live?Surprise is a good city for elderly and new families! It is not very expensive to live here and a really nice community overall. The only downsize is how commercialized it has become, not many small businesses survive as well as chain stores and restaurants.

The City of Surprise has begun a phased reopening of parks and recreation programs and amenities. See what’s open and opening soon. Learn more…
